TERRALITE® TOP TWENTY
The top 20 questions asked about the Terralite® Retaining Wall System

1.Do I need mortar?
A)No. Each Terralite® unit is designed to stack and interlock without mortar.

2.Do I need a concrete footing?
A) No. Terralite® should be placed on a firm, flat surface and approximately one inch of block should be below grade for every foot of wall elevation.

3.How does it lock together?
A)The unique curved shape of the block that allows it to rotate also gives it the interlocking strength. By using the full surface area of the interconnected curves, the block has the same type of connection as the ball and socket used in nature. Also, by filling each block with crushed rock, the rock aids in locking as well as adds weight to the unit, making it a mass gravity system.

4.How high can I build a Terralite® wall?
A) Terralite® is designed for walls of 3 feet or less. For larger walls you can terrace the area by going back toward the bank twice the vertical height of your lower wall, then start a new wall. Alternately you can use an engineered soil retention grid between courses, or use the larger Terraforce® wall system.

5.Can you use Terralite® to make a straight wall?
A)Yes. The same unique shape that allows you to create flowing curves also allows you to make a straight wall.

6.Can I use Terralite® as a retaining wall?
A)Yes. Terralite® is an engineered retaining wall system that keeps it’s inherent strength as the wall curves and flows.

7.Can I use Terralite® to build stairs within my wall?
A)Yes, the same great design that allows you to build flowing and entwining walls allows you to build stairs. See your local dealer for more information

8.Do I need a setback between courses?
A)Terralite® can be stacked vertically up to two feet, or,with a setback of 1 inch per course it can be stacked to 3 feet.

9.Do I need pins or clips between the rows?
A)No. Terralite® does not require any pins or clips that add to your wall cost.

10.Do I need to fill each block?
A)Yes. Every block should be filled as you complete each course of your wall. They should be filled with a clean crushed rock, then the top course may be filled with topsoil if you wish to have plants, or it can be filled with a decorative rock, or capped using the Terralite® cap unit.

11.Do I need to put anything behind the wall?
A)We recommend you have approximately 1 foot of drainage material behind your wall to deal with any water that may build up and a length of drain tile at the bottom to remove the water.

12.Do I need any special tools?
A)Simple hand tools including a shovel, wheelbarrow, level, string line, a brush or broom, and gloves are all that should be required.

16.Is there a cap unit available?
